DFUB 95/12 Study of a MA16-Based Vertex Trigger for the CDF Experiment#
نویسنده
چکیده
A Neural Network trigger for bb events based on the SVT microvertex processor of experiment CDF at Fermilab is presented. It exploits correlations among track impact parameters and azimuths calculated by the SVT from the SVX microvertex detector data. The neural trigger is meant for implementation on the systolic Siemens microprocessor MA16, which has already been used in a neural-network trigger for experiment WA92 at CERN. A suitable set of input variables is found, which allows a viable solution for the preprocessing task using standard electronic components. The response time of the neuralnetwork stage of the trigger, including preprocessing, can be estimated ~10 μs. Its precise value depends on the quantitative specifications of the output signals of the SVT, which is still in development. The performance of the neural-network trigger is found to be significantly better than that of a conventional trigger exclusively based on impact parameter data. # Postscript file: http://www.bo.infn.it/preprint/odorico.html * E-mail: [email protected]

Dfub 95/2 Results from a Neural Trigger Based on the Ma16 Microprocessor#
Results from a neural-network trigger based on the digital MA16 chip of Siemens are reported. The neural trigger has been applied to data from the WA92 experiment, looking for beauty particles, which have been collected during a run in which a neural trigger module based on Intel's analog neural chip ETANN operated, as already reported. The MA16 has a precision of 16 bits for input variables, 1...

متن کاملResults from an On-Line Non-Leptonic Neural Trigger Implemented in an Experiment Looking for Beauty
Results from a non-leptonic neural-network trigger hosted by experiment WA92, looking for beauty particle production from 350 GeV negative pions on a fixed Cu target, are presented. The neural trigger has been used to send events selected by means of a non-leptonic signature based on microvertex detector information to a special data stream, meant for early analysis. The non-leptonic signature,...
متن کاملCharm and Beauty Production at Cdf
The Tevatron at Fermilab is at present the world’s highest energy particle accelerator. After extensive refurbishments, data taking for Run II started in 2001, and by the end of 2003 over 200 pb of usable integrated luminosity had been accumulated by each Collider experiment, double the total for Run I. In preparation for Run II, the CDF detector also underwent an extensive upgrade. Of special ...
